What I do
Garden restoration
Getting an overgrown or neglected garden back — without stripping it bare.
Gardens get away from people. Illness, a house move, a couple of busy summers — it happens, and it's nothing to apologise for.
The temptation is to clear the lot and start again. I'd rather spend the first visit working out what's worth keeping. There is almost always more in there than it looks, and a garden brought back is worth more than a garden replaced.
What that usually covers
- An honest assessment of what's salvageable
- Clearing in stages, so nothing good goes by accident
- Overgrown hedges and shrubs brought back over time
- Paths, edges and structure re-established
- A plan for keeping on top of it afterwards
