Will you cut back things I want to keep?

No. On the first visit we walk round the garden together and you tell me what matters to you. If I'm ever unsure whether something should go, I'll leave it and ask. Nothing disappears because I assumed it was a weed.

Do you use weedkiller or chemical sprays?

Accepted Answer

Very rarely, and never without telling you first. In an ordinary garden, hand weeding and mulch deal with almost everything, and they keep working. If you've got something serious like knotweed I'll tell you honestly what the options are.

How often would you come?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the garden and on how much you want to do yourself. Fortnightly suits most small gardens in the growing season, with less over winter. We'll start with what looks right and adjust once we both know the garden.

Do I need to be at home?

Only for the first visit, so we can go round it together. After that, most customers aren't in. I'll leave a note of what I did and anything you should know.

Which parts of Jersey do you cover?

All twelve parishes. The island isn't big enough for me to be fussy about which end of it your garden is at.

Question 6

What happens to the garden waste?

Accepted Answer

Where there's room, the best place for it is your own compost or leafmould heap — it goes straight back into the garden as mulch. If that's not practical I'll take it away with me.

Do you do one-off jobs, or only regular visits?

Accepted Answer

Both. Plenty of people start with a one-off tidy or a restoration and then decide whether they want me back regularly. There's no contract either way.
